Service Description
Master the art of coastal hydrodynamic modeling with our Delft3D FM – Coastal Hydrodynamic Modelling course. Delft3D Flexible Mesh (FM) Suite, the successor to Delft3D 4, simulates storm surges, hurricanes, tsunamis, sediment transport, waves, and more. With D-Flow FM, the suite’s core engine, you’ll learn to run advanced hydrodynamic models on both structured and unstructured grids in 1D, 2D, and 3D. This course offers a blend of theory and hands-on exercises to build your own hydrodynamic model. What You’ll Learn Through a combination of interactive lectures and practical exercises, you will: • Create flexible grids with bathymetry interpolation. • Set up and run 2D and 3D coastal models using the Delft3D FM Suite. • Analyze model outputs using built-in tools and third-party software. • Leverage Python-based tools for model setup and post-processing. You’ll also explore our new Python-powered modelbuilder tool, which streamlines your workflow by: • Generating and refining unstructured grids. • Integrating tidal and ocean models at your boundaries. • Fetching ERA5 data for meteorological forcing. This tool saves time and effort, and serves as a great starting point for your future hydrodynamic modeling by automating typical pre-processing steps. Who Should Attend? This course is ideal for: • Project engineers, researchers, PhD students, and project leaders with a background in hydrodynamics. Whether you’re new to the software or looking to enhance your modeling skills, this course will equip you with practical knowledge for research and consultancy.
